About Us

Who We Are

Deborah Foundation is a Christian-based humanitarian organization founded in 2010 by PR Alice Kanzayire who is currently serving in Light temple Church. She started with ministering single mothers in that same year and that is where the name Deborah came from.

In 2023, Deborah did their first charity in Ibanda district for single mothers, and Children giving food, clothes, school requirements, and they didn’t stop there . They recruited 15 children to support them with their education.

History of the Organisation

In 2010, Debrah encountered a 16-year-old boy who was orphaned. His mother was absent and he had just lost his father. He had also been forced to leave school.

She made a personal commitment to care for the boy and encouraged other women to extend love to all children.

From that point on, Deborah Foundation began to grow, focusing on supporting children struggling with education especially those whose single mothers cannot afford to send them to school.

Determined to make a difference, she brought single women together and equipped them with the skills and knowledge needed to become self-reliant and care for their children effectively.

Deborah Foundation has remained active and unwavering in its efforts upto the present.

Educating vulnerable Children

In Uganda, we have many vulnerable Children over 8.7 million lacking education, children whose families cannot provide for them will spend their days and sometimes their nights on the streets, looking for food and how to survive. Children aged 6-17,38% live in poverty and 18% live in extreme poverty.

Single Mothers

The percentage of single mothers in Uganda is on the rise from 20% to 30% in recent years.

We support single mothers in different ways to be able to raise their children. Each day, we get single mothers at a young age of 18-35 years in the country, who are lacking school fees for their children and resources to support their families.

Despite the challenges, single mothers often demonstrate remarkable resilience, strength, and resourcefulness in providing for their children. They are often adept at juggling multiple roles and responsibilities.

Lack of opportunities in Children

Young girls education is hindered by the lack of school fees, resulting in a rise in births at younger age.

In Uganda, we find in different districts when young girls are forced into early motherhood. Boys, on the other hand, end up in vices like substance abuse and theft.
