Deborah Foundation is a Christian-based humanitarian organization founded in 2010 by Pastor Alice Kanzayire and founder of Source of Light ministries whereas a Pastor of Light temple. We put faith into action by serving single mothers and their children offering support and resources to thrive in love and hope and promote self sufficiency.
our organization was founded through a story of faith,resilience and compassion. It
all begun with one Woman’s story whose story was embarked with
loss,hardships,unshakeable belief that God can turn our pains into joy and life full of
purpose of ourselves.
At a tender age,our founder lost her lovely husband,turning her into a single
mother.She faced many heavy challenges, and the burden of raising children
alone.With no stable source of income,and no means to provide her children with the
smallest basic needs,her life was a battle.Some nights they slept hungry,some days
the medical care was less or no leaving her children to battle with sickness,her
children ‘s school fees was always lacking,countless times her children and herself
battled with heartbreak.
Additionally, to the struggles she was facing, and passion through,God planted a
seed of vision in her heart.Women who like her,battled in silence,carried silent
wounds,she carried their pain,felt their pain,saw their pain firsthand.
During the hard moments her only prayer that was”God if you bless me even with
just a little I will use it to bless a single mother and send her child to school “ This
prayer became a Covenant between her and God,a commitment and promise to God
to serve others once she is and was able.She found strength in her suffering and a
mission in her ministry
Inspire of having no financial resources,at that time,she had so much
compassion.She understood the consequences of hunger,she felt hunger,she
understood the consequences of poverty and hopelessness.She knew that no child
should miss school because of lack and no woman or mother should carry the
weight of survival alone,therefore envisioning the organization as the stronghold or
what would stand in the gap to bring hope again to where there despair
In 2010,she took her first step of faith,with limited means,with abundant love she
begun to pay school fees for one child.At that same time she also begun to preach
the Gospel to women as well as counselling to single mothers and encouraging
them to be hardworking,creative and strong and find meas to support their families
despite the odds.
What initially started or begun as small act of obedience has now blossomed into a
growing movement of hope and restoration
Currently, Deborah Foundation is funding 50 children in different schools in different districts in Uganda.
